The other day I shared an Instagram post where I talked about how I hadn’t worn denim shorts since early high school up until LAST YEAR. Although I was relatively thin back then, I still didn’t have the stereotypical body shape that clothing companies made Juniors clothes for. I would generally resort to cutting my mom’s vintage high rise jeans into shorts! Last year I’d finally had enough, and realized I needed to find some jean shorts that work for me! Today I’m sharing Where to Buy the Best Jean Shorts for Thick Thighs.
I’ll be sharing five places that I’ve found who make shorts for anyone who have a waist and hip size difference! Mine are about 11-12 inches different, and I typically wear a size 6-8 in shorts. Not exactly “mid-size,” but not a size 0 either! Hopefully this post can help you find some denim shorts that will work for you AND avoid the thigh chaff.
1. Abercombie & Fitch
Abercombie makes my FAVORITE denim shorts! I tried them because two of my friends have about their denim shorts and jeans. I wasn’t sure if they would work for me, but after testing a few styles and sizes, I ended up finding two variations that I loved!
My favorite styles were the Curve Love High Rise Mom Shorts and the Curve Love Mid Rise Boyfriend Shorts! I also tried just the regular High Rise Mom Shorts, but if you have measurements in proportions like I do, I would definitely go with the Curve Love styles! Shop some styles below:
2.Target
Target was actually the FIRST place I bought denim shorts after having not gotten any for so long! It’s generally one of the places I go to first when trying to find clothes for every new season. I’ve realized that most mid-rise shorts generally don’t fit too well, so when shopping I tend to go for high-rise shorts!
If you’re reading this post and on a budget, definitely grab a pair of denim shorts from Target! All of the ones I’ve found are under $25 (and most are under $20). The pair that I bought that I adore are the Women’s High-Rise Jean Shorts in a Size 6!
3. Express
If you’re into stretch denim shorts, then you need to check out Express! I actually partnered with them for a summer campaign, but I was so excited because their shorts are some of my favorites! The length is perfect because they still show off your legs, but help prevent chaffing because they don’t ride up.
I feel like so many denim shorts DO ride up, so I was thrilled to find these! They have a variety of different washes, so if you prefer light over dark, then there’s a pair of shorts for you. Not to mention, they have a ton of other cute items you can pair with your shorts too!
4. American Eagle
Another place I have found jeans and denim shorts that fit thick thighs is at American Eagle! Their Mom Shorts fit so well throughout the waist and also have enough room for your thighs. They’re also a more affordable option than some of the others, so if you’re on a budget, I would suggest looking here first!
5. Madewell
U ibky started wearing Madewell jeans and shorts last summer. One of the PR companies that they partner with allowed me to pick out some new items, and I knew their denim was one thing I wanted to try out! Their vintage and curvy jeans are the styles that I love the most, and the same transferred over to their denim shorts.
To be more specific, The Curvy Perfect Jean Shorts are the style that fits the best for anyone with thick thighs. They have a smaller waist and added fabric as they go down for anyone, like me, that needs that extra space! We also love a raw hem.
I hope you all enjoyed this post! Denim shorts were one thing I never really wore because I felt like they never fit my body type. Once I actually started trying clothes that were my size and made for my shape, I started finding pairs that I loved!
