Creating a Cozy Home With Scotties
Hey y’all! Over on my Instagram page I promised you a heartfelt story from my childhood and that’s what you’re going to get! This might seemingly be a random post about tissues, but it’s literally a random part of my childhood that I’ll always remember!
Now, I know most people have parents that do at least one weird thing that we realized other parents don’t. For me, that weird thing was my mom RELIGIOUSLY having tissues in every room of our house. Like seriously. Every. Single. Room.
I only realized this was strange and completely random last year when I had Intro to Marketing and my professor, Dr. Larson, made an example about brand loyalty and weird habits of parents.
She asked how many of us had parents who kept tissues in every single room. Only about three other people including me raised their hands! That’s when I thought back to my mom and the nine boxes of Scotties she kept stacked in her closet at all times.
Brand Loyalty as an Adult
I’m not brand loyal to many brands, but there are a few I HAVE to splurge on. Scotties is most definitely one of these brands! It’s a name I’ve had in my life for so long and it gives me a little piece of home in my apartment. It’s the first step of a cozy home decor 101!
Adulting has been a lot harder than I had hoped it would be. I love having touches of home around my apartment that remind me of my family. On my desk that’s in the corner of this shot, I have a photo of my family and I!
The thing I love most about Scotties tissues is that they’re sooo soft. Some tissues are extremely rough and no one wants to use a ROUGH tissue. That makes them even better on the off chance I get sick! It’s great because you can also get Scotties facial tissues in bulk.
Different Box Sizes
Now as I said, my mom kept boxes of tissues in EVERY room of the house. My sister and I both had boxes in our room. We also had one on the kitchen counter by the little basket of pencils and random business cards!
I had them everywhere growing up and that’s seems to now be a habit I’ve picked up as an adult. I keep a box on my desk, one on my nightstand, one in my bathroom, and of course one in my kitchen!
The nice thing is that Scotties has soo many different sizes! I generally keep the smaller square boxes on my desk and nightstand because they’re smaller spaces. This was great when I was in a dorm and now when I’m in a relatively small apartment!
Cute New Designs
I have been loving the new styles they have because they work seamlessly with the colors I have in my room set up! Never thought I would say that TISSUE boxes help express my style, but here we are. We’re making tissues a home decor trend of 2019 y’all!
The one below I love so much because it is just a nice, subtle gray pattern that flows with almost everything. That’s one thing I look for in decor items and, to me, everything in my room in some way is decor!
Me being the color queen I am, Scotties gives me so many options. Crazy enough, my favorite box pattern below is the classic gray tiled look! The one that comes directly after though is the mermaid tail looking design.
Scotties Tissues for Work
For some reason my body hates Florida. I mean that in the sense of my allergies have been KILLER since I moved down here! I’m always sneezing and I do so even more when I’m at work.
The other reason I keep a box of Scotties tissues at work is because it is SO COLD. Even if I’m not sick, my nose still runs when it’s cold. Like seriously all the time! Especially when the grocery store is below freezing.
I took my really neutral colored box to work with me because it’s a super subtle gray. You can see that it matches the color of my cubicle! I keep it next to my favorite mug of all time which is my Edna Mode quotes mug.

I hope you guys enjoyed this post! I love having things in my space that remind me of my childhood and family and I know you probably do too. You can shop ALL of these cute designs above on Scotties website linked (here)!
I had so much fun with this collaboration and I hope my little childhood story shows you a little more about me! I grew up as a baby germaphobe and this tissue thing obviously didn’t help with that (LOL).
