5 Staples You Need for the Summer to Fall Transition

Hi everyone! In this post I am so excited to share some fall styles for you guys! Even though it’s still about 90 degrees here in Atlanta, GA every day, I am so excited (and READY) for the cooler months! In this post, I’m going to share 5 Staples You Need for the Summer to Fall Transition. These are all ones that I use in my wardrobe year after year!

I have another post with 10 Perfect Outfits for the Summer to Fall Transition that you can read (here)! That said, this post is going to share some staples that are shown throughout those looks, and the one that I have featured in the photos of this post. I love finding fashion that I can work from season to season, and I feel like everything I’m sharing today does just that!

Gray Knit Midi Dress

The first item that I wanted to share in this post was a gray knit midi dress! I actually got this dress from Amazon and it’s immensely affordable. It’s also super comfy which is what I like 1) when it’s hot out and 2) when it starts to get cooler and you just want to cuddle up on the couch!

The length is also perfect for me because it can work with either fashion sneakers or with block heels! Those are both two of my favorite styles of shoes. This dress also has two details that I’m obsessed with! It has a chic little twist on the top of the sleeves, and also a slit on both sides! The slit makes it much easier to wear because it also allows for more movement.

White Platform Sneakers

An accessory that I love is white platform sneakers! They upgrade a classic sneaker design and also give a little added height (which is something you know I always love). There’s a Converse Platform All Star sneaker that looks like these, but I found an Amazon brand pair that was much cheaper! You can shop those (here).

White platform shoes are just the perfect sneaker no matter the time of year! For the summertime, they are the perfect shoe for holidays (like Memorial Day) and summer evenings near the beach. Moving into the fall, they are amazing for cooler nights when it starts to get a little more brisk! I likely won’t deal with days like that until about October, but it’s nice to think ahead.

Thin Silver Hoop Earrings

This year has been a hot mess, but one thing that came of it is that I realized how much I love hoop earrings (specifically these thin silver hoop earrings)! Earrings can take a regular outfit and make it look/feel like you’re doing so much more. I love just throwing on a basic tee or dress with a pair of hoops and going about my day!

These hoops I found at Target for only $7.99 and they are perfect! I loved them so much that I bought them in both gold and silver. I feel like depending on the other metals in my outfit, I need one of each. I prefer a thin hoop to a thicker one just because they feel a bit more sophisticated! I do have both styles of hoops though.

White Cropped Jean Jacket

I also feel like I hopped onto the denim jacket train late as well! The reason for this though, was that I hated the rigidity of them. Once I realized they made softer denim jackets is when I finally invested in a couple of them! I love a white denim jacket for summer, and it’s the perfect outerwear piece to take into the fall (Hate me, but I’m a strong “I wear white after Labor Day” type of gal).

This jacket was from LOFT a couple years ago, but I love it! The way that I styled it in this post is great because it almost acts like a belt. I’m really self conscious about my hips and also feel like dresses like this can look weird on my body type. Adding a jacket makes me feel more comfortable and it honestly ties the entire look together too!

Cognac Tote Bag

When I found this cognac tote bag on the JCPenny website I KNEW I needed it in my life! I had been wanting just a plain tote bag that would work for blog shoots but also my day to day life! I was searching for an everyday tote that was affordable, yet would match almost everything in my wardrobe. That’s exactly what I was able to find!

I also usually need at least one pocket, because if I don’t, I will lose every single key that I have in the depths of my bag. That’s how I knew this would be the bag for me! I also really love this Madewell Medium Transport Tote, so if you’re looking for a more up-scale version of this bag, then this is the one for you! I think it’s so helpful to have a classic bag to use no matter when you need to grab it.

I hope you guys enjoyed this post that rounded up some early fall clothing! This is one of the most exciting times of the year for me because I love seeing how I can make my clothes work in multiple seasons. I also ADORE the fall time (even though its mega hot here in Georgia)! If you have any fall staples you love, be sure to leave a comment below.
