***This post is in paid partnership with Dollar General. All opinions are my own!***
I’m so excited to bring you guys this next post! I love the fall and creating content for it. This week I have partnered with Dollar General again to share how I can create the perfect snack spread for a movie night with friends! I don’t know about you, but Halloween movies are actually the best.
The variety they offer is amazing and there are some movies that just remind me of being a kid again. My favorites are Halloweentown (literally all of them) and Hocus Pocus! Casper is a good choice too (and it’s on Netflix currently). Now onto the snack choices!
This post is going to list what you need to create the perfect snack spread for a Halloween movie night (and under $20 too!!). Dollar General has everything you could need for spooky festivities and I can’t wait to share with you what I used to create my perfect movie night.
1. Find a Spooky Serving Bowl
This is a MUST. To get into the spooky mood you need everything to feel that way! The one that I found is honestly so cute and is literally just $1 (shop it here). It does have holes in it, but the way I got around that was by cutting a napkin into a little circle and placing it in the bottom!
You can’t even see it from the side or top view and it keeps all your goodies inside for the most part. Dollar General has super affordable napkin packs as well that are perfect for serving! They come in a variety of colors and designs, but I just went with solid orange ones because they matched the best with everything else.
Probably the coolest part of this serving bowl was the fact that I found it right next to these skeleton serving tongs! You’d be surprised at how useful and functional these actually are. I used them with ease! Can you also believe that these were just $1 too?! Because I definitely could not (shop them here).
3. Add Some Chic Fall Accents
I am a decorator at heart. I almost added a minor in interior design I love it that much! Now I just spend my time trying to find affordable decor that I can spruce up my home with. If you saw my past Instagram posts, you know that I love shopping at Dollar General for fall items I stock up on!
I get the health items I need there (like Emergen-C to stay healthy) and I buy items to keep my hair and skin feeling refreshed too! They have things I need for my body and things I want for my home. The main thing I DIED when I found was this cute little candy corn garland!
I am a massive fan of garlands especially when it’s the holidays! This one was no exception. I sadly wasn’t able to find my candy corn one online, but I did find a similar one that has cute jack-o-lanterns (shop it here)! I feel like either garland really sets the Halloween mood for a spooky movie night.
You’ll also see the spooky little spider in the right of the photo. These come in a set of four and those packs are only $1 as well (shop them here)!! I really bought them for my front door (you’ll see that reveal on my Instagram in a few weeks), but I thought one would look too perfect in this shot.
2. Choose your Snacks
Now this is the most important part. You have to find snacks that you and your friends will love! This shouldn’t be too hard though because Dollar General carries all the name brand candy you love AND has super fun snack of their own with their Clover Valley line!
I knew I wanted to choose candies and snacks that I love and that my friends love too. As someone who loves the aesthetic of things, I went with white and orange snacks! These really tied everything together and helped me to curate the perfect snack spread (which is what this post is all about)!
All of these snacks were just $1 each (except for the candy corn tub that was $2) and so we’ve still barely spent any money on the perfect movie night snacks! I know not all people love candy corn, but I am one of those 5 people in the universe obsessed with it and couldn’t have been happier to find this autumn mix.
It has the classic candy corn, the chocolate ones, AND the cute little pumpkin ones too! I also will always choose kettle corn over regular movie style popcorn because it’s a little bit healthier! There’s less butter/salt and a subtle sweet kick in there that tastes so yummy.
4. Pick the Perfect Movie
Now with Halloween you are SO LUCKY. There are so many movies that are so unique for this time of the year. I wanted to list out some Halloween movie ideas that will work for any genre you’re looking for! Personally I can’t do ANY paranormal movies because they freak me out.
The good news for you is that I’m, still going to list some highly rated movies that are from that genre! My go-to are thrillers (Halloween) and any movies with creepy creatures (werewolves, vampires, etc.). I’ll list some from all categories because everyone has different tastes!
Netflix Halloween Movie Recommendations 2019: Goosebumps, Casper, Scream, Before I Wake, Would You Rather, Insidious, Hush, Truth or Dare, 1922, The Conjuring, Chucky, The Open House, The Purge, Paranormal Activity, Monsters House, Sabrina, Cabin in the Woods.
I also LOVE the show The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina because that show is so good! Not going to lie even as an adult it freaked me out a little bit. That being said, the story line is great and the character development is phenomenal! Then you’ll also have something to watch throughout October too (unless you’re a binge watcher like me).
I hope you guys enjoyed this post! I had so much fun setting all of these items up in my living room to share with y’all. I really love decorating and the holidays (especially Halloween) because it gets me in such a great and happy mood! I hope all of my Dollar General finds show you that you can have such a fun movie night with great candy and still spend less than $20 on decor/food.
