Hey y’all! Back again with another blog post. This one is all about 90’s Nostalgia with H&M! As I said above, I have partnered with them and InfluenceHer Collective to show off their new 90’s/Clueless line for back to school. These are some amazing outfits that can go from campus to the mall!
Clueless was/is my absolute favorite movie ever. As a 90’s baby, I felt it was only right that I was a part of this campaign! I adore Clueless and H&M all the same so this collab made my whole life. These looks are my modern spin on the 90’s style that I know and love!
I was lucky enough to be able to show you guys four chic 90’s nostalgia looks! Keep reading to see how I styled some of these amazing 90’s inspired pieces that are perfect for back to campus style. Some of the trends you’ll see below are: Plaid, Platform Sneakers, and lots of DENIM!
90’s Nostalgia With H&M
1. Knit Sweater + Button-Up Denim Skirt
This first look I didn’t think I would love as much as I do! I personally adore the trend of tucking knit sweaters into any type of skirt. That’s what I knew I wanted to do when I ordered this outfit! This little knit sweater from H&M is a perfect transitional piece because in the morning it’s starting to get chilly.
I’m also a lover of denim skirts! I think these are one of the most 90’s inspired items in the collection and I’m not complaining. This one has silver buttons up the front, and even though it’s not my normal tortoiseshell buttons, I’m still in love! I would recommend to size up in this one though (especially if you’re planning to tuck like I did.
When it comes to my shoes, I LOVE LOVE LOVE these little white platform sneakers. Fun fact: when I was in elementary/middle school my friend Mallory and I were obsessed with The Clique books and I have wanted a pair of platform sneakers since Claire work them! These are so classy and comfortable and will be great for walking around campus.
This black tote bag is also the best accessory one could have. I’m always throwing my entire life into my purses and this one is no exception! It’s made out a very nice material and it lined which is great. The best part, in my opinion, is the fact that it has a larger shoulder strap attached too!
2. Teal Crop Top + Teal Pleated Skirt
This next 90’s inspired look from H&M is this teal look that I put together! Seafoam green was my favorite color for a hot minute and I still love creating outfits with this color. It’s an ode to the darker shade of teal that permeated it’s way through all of fashion in the 1990’s.
This little crop top in the outfit below is one I didn’t know how I’d feel about once it was on! I’m normally not a wearer of crop tops, but when alluding to 90’s nostalgia, you HAVE to have some crop tops thrown in. I mean even the men wore them!! This one I loved because of the little twist it had in the center.
If you know me, you know I LOVE pleated skirts. My first pleated skirt was pink and was from my grandmother’s closet! It was actually from the 90’s so I wanted to bring that feeling back to this look as well. I think I totally accomplished it by pairing it with my teal crop top!
A 90’s look wouldn’t be complete without denim! I brought along my favorite denim jacket from this collection while out on the town because it can be super chilly in stores! It’s oversized too which really speaks to the 90’s vibes it gives off. That’s the one thing I love about it most!
THESE BOOTS YALL. I’m mostly ready for the fall because I am massively ready to wear boots again. These from H&M’s nostalgia collection made my whole life when I found them. They’re a gray/ivory suede material and are studded on the clasp as well as the toe area! These shoes are SUCH a score.
3. Floral Button Front Dress + Sunglasses
I don’t think I could write a blog post about the 90’s if I left out florals. This floral mini dress from H&M fits like a DREAM and looks like one too! I love how it fits almost like a fit and flare dress and gives more room in the hips. This is something I always look for because my hips are wider!
It’s also a little hard to see in this post, but the dress has tortoiseshell buttons! When I saw those I immediately added it to my cart. For any of my southern college gals, this dress is one you’ll NEED until about October. It’s lightweight, cute, and mega-comfy! I couldn’t believe it checked all my boxes.
For my accessories with this look, I chose my classic black tote bag again! You can see it throughout multiple looks in this post, and that really just shows it’s versatility. I love totes like this because they can fit my textbook for class as well as my laptop! As a nerd, that’s what I’m always looking for in a bag.
I also threw on my white platform sneakers for this look too! I wanted to show a more casual option for this dress too. It’s great for going out with friends, but can be dress down a bit more when you’re running errands! That can be accomplished easily by just throwing on a pair of sneakers. Hating dresses and sneakers? NOT!
4. Plaid Blazer + Wide Leg Denim Jeans
This look was my FAVORITE. I loved all of my looks obviously, but this one I really loved the most. This look gave me the most Clueless-esque vibes because of the fact that it has plaid galore! Cher Horowitz was my idol through high school and was honestly one character that made me want to be a fashion blogger in the first place!
This plaid blazer is one of the most 90’s inspired styles that H&M has in this nostalgic collection! I love it and the fact that it’s more of a knit fabric. This makes it a more casual style for a blazer which is great for college classes! You can quickly throw it on over some jeans and a tee and look cute (while actually being so comfy).
I have been on the hunt for a pair of just classic, wide-leg jeans, and these from H&M did the trick! They’re a part of their “conscious” collection too which means it’s made partially out of post consumer recycled fibers. This is super important to me! Not saving the environment? AS-IF!
One thing that’s also extremely 90’s inspired is a plain white tee! Throwback to Rachel Green being a style icon by wearing just jeans and a white tee. I knew I wanted to show how you can easily dress down a blazer, and it’s this easy! I love H&M’s tees (that are just $9.99 btw!!!) because they’re uber soft.
My accessories for this look are also MUSTS. I think every girl needs just a classic black flat in her wardrobe. These are slingbacks and work so well with my look! I also have my classic black tote bag again because it just works THAT WELL with everything. I didn’t mention this above, but it also has a magnetic closure in the middle too!
I double dare you to not love everything about H&M’s 90’s nostalgia collection! They have so many cute pieces that are all affordable! I got all of these items at a great deal and they’re awesome for so many seasons! You can easily transfer all these items from fall to winter to spring. Great for any college student on a tight budget.
If you got any of my references throughout this post, you are for sure DA BOMB! I love everything about the 90’s and it’s my favorite era for movies for sure. Remember to check out H&M for all of your 90’s needs and scoop up these 90’s nostalgia items before they sell out!
