Hi friends! Today I wanted to share a new series I’ll be doing on the blog. I’m going to share photoshoot ideas, some including props. Today’s post will be about How to Take Instagram Pictures With Flowers! I love shooting with flowers and am honestly sad that I haven’t done it more. Hydrangeas are my favorite flower, so when choosing flowers to shoot with, I knew I needed to choose these!
All of these photos were shot around The High Museum in downtown Atlanta! It offered a gorgeous white backdrop to allow the outfit + flowers to really flourish in the foreground of the shots. My entire look (except my shoes) was thrifted, but I linked some similar items below to shop! My favorite place to grab flowers for shoots is Trader Joe’s. They’re cheap, well taken care of, and so beautiful!
Using Flowers As An Accessory
Sometimes I feel like I’m always doing the SAME THINGS with my hands! I’ve started trying to add more props (handbags, flowers, coffee cups, etc.) to make them look more natural as photos. For this picture, I used this Cult Gaia bag (I found it for only $30 at Uptown Cheapskate and almost died) and some hydrangeas for props! These turned out so cute and I’m thrilled that the flowers worked in these shots.
Holding Flowers Up to Your Face
I love having dimension in my shots as well as having a variety in my feed! I usually try not to post too many “full outfit” pics in a row because I feel like then it all looks one note. Generally I’ll try to throw in some cropped photos (either at the waist or closer in towards my face) to add some diversification. In this case, I brought the flowers in closer and then moved my bag out of the shot!
Sitting On a (Stone) Wall
I love giving a cottagecore feel to whatever I’m posting ESPECIALLY in the spring! Although you can obviously see city buildings in the background, I wanted to get the ivy in the back of this shot. I knew with the combination of those plus my flowers it would give the perfect springtime vibe to the pictures! I was NOT disappointed and I really love how these turned out. This wall is on the right side of The High Museum if you’re trying to replicate this shot!
Using Flowers for Detail Shots
I love having an assortment of photos for my blog posts so that whoever is reading can get a good idea of what my entire outfit looks like! For this shoot, I really wanted to get a detail shot of my shoes, bag, and the flowers. We tried a few different angles, but I LOVED how these ended up looking! You can see close up details of the bag, my shoes, and the flowers are still an important part of the photo.
I hope you guys enjoyed this post! I loved creating these images for this post and hope it’s helped you figure out how to better pose with flowers. If you want more posts about photo tips, be sure to comment below what you’re looking for!
