This post idea was actually one that y’all gave me over on my instagram account! I asked what types of posts you were looking for during the fall, and I had multiple people say something along the lines of this. It is perfect for me too because I live in Georgia! I’m so ready for the fall, but really have to be realistic and know I need to mix some short sleeve/short leg looks into my wardrobe.
Autumn clothes are honestly my favorite of the entire year. The fall just makes me feel happy and excited for all the holidays that are about to come! That being said, in the south it takes a WHILE for the weather to finally get cooler. This is why I have rounded up 10 summer to fall transition outfits for y’all to get inspiration from!
These looks are some of my favorite early fall outfits and perfect for whether you live in New York or Atlanta! I have anything from casual, weekend outfits to work wear that is great for the office. Be sure to keep on reading because this is my transitional wardrobe for the summer to fall season!
1. White Button Up Blouse + Printed Mini Skirt
I wanted to start this post with my FAVORITE look of them all! I was so excited this outfit worked because I was mega obsessed that I made neutrals fit my style. This blouse is one that I purchased during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale a couple months ago and I couldn’t love it more! It’s slightly off-white, but not see through at all.
My skirt is one that I found on Amazon and adore the fit! It’s just long enough to not be revealing, but just short enough to work with over the knee boots. That’s what makes it the PERFECT transitional piece. Shop my skirt (here). It’s also only $17.99!!! I also think that over the knee boots are great for the transitional season too which is why I included them in this roundup!
My favorite transition piece is hands down this fedora though. I have this sprinkled throughout this post because it can honestly work with SO MANY outfits. You can find it linked (here). If you’re looking for a felt hat under $20 then this is the option for you! I have this in three colors now because it’s such great quality.
2. Teal Crop Top + Teal Pleated Midi Skirt
This look was one you guys LOVED from my 90’s Nostalgia With H&M collab! Not going to lie, I loved it too. It definitely deserved more credit which is why I added it here! This look is great for the summer to fall transition because it is short sleeved, but also includes a denim jacket!
When I saw that H&M had a teal blouse and skirt with similar shades, I KNEW I needed to pair them together for this monochromatic look. Happy to report that it turned out the exact way I wanted! The small details like the twist front of the shirt is what makes me adore this entire ensemble.
To accessorize this look, I paired this classic denim jacket and these moto boots! Denim jackets are a must during this time period because it’s a lot cooler in the mornings and evenings. If you’ll be at an outdoor event all day, this look is great because it’s chic and can still keep you warm if need be!
3. Polka Dot Blouse + Red Wide Leg Pants
This next look is a work wear look that’s great for this time of year! I partnered with LOFT to share their Riviera pants so this look was gifted to me. That being said, I chose everything here! I think red is such a statement color and it’s awesome for moving into the fall season (you’ll match the changing leaves).
I am always a fan of polka dots and this blouse is just thin enough that you won’t be sweating in the Georgia heat, but just thick enough to not be see-through. I loved how it worked with these wide leg pants! It also matches back to my black knit blazer as well as my black block heels.
This is a great transitional look because if you have an event after work, you can throw on this blazer to stay warm! It’s still casual because it’s a knit blazer so it’s a bit more laid back. I also added a sandal because it’s a bit more relaxed and alludes more to summer than to fall.
4. Pink Sharkbite Sweater + Pleated Metallic Midi Skirt
This look is one you might recognize! I featured it over on my Instagram and y’all adored it. I really loved how this look turned out because it has two things I love: pink and metallic accents. This sweater is a sharkbite sweater (even though you can’t really tell). That’s one of my fav sweater styles!
This skirt is actually one that I made two Christmases ago that everyone freaks out about when I wear it. I was lucky enough to find some similar ones you guys can purchase if you love it too! This look is a great transitional looks because the booties are backless and the skirt is a midi skirt. You’ll get breathability from both of these aspects.
You’ll also notice that I have my panama hat on again in this look (shop it here)! It looks great no matter the skirt length and no matter the outfit. I’m also toting my Lavender Chai Tea Latte from the Nordstrom Cafe which is an absolute must for cold mornings (or hot afternoons, nothing is stopping me!!!)!
5. Leopard Print Blouse + Raw Hem Jeans
This next transitional outfit is one that I ended up getting from Plato’s Closet! Can you believe?! I partnered with them for a giveaway and ended up finding this gorgeous leopard print Vince Camuto blouse and raw hem jeans from J.Crew. I’m always a fan of bargain hunting and this look is one for sure.
This look is more transitional because I have a lightweight blouse paired with my jeans! It still offers the needed breathability, but also looks more fall ready. PLUS: leopard print a is mega-huge trend this year and ESPECIALLY for the fall. You’ll already be ahead of the game with a blouse like this.
Raw hem jeans are just a personal favorite of mine. It elevates a classic pair of jeans just a little bit more in my opinion. I loved where these hit on my legs because I was able to wear my favorite black block heel sandals with them! My panama hat also decided to make an appearance again and you can shop it (here).
6. Striped Tee + Polka Dot Skirt + Denim Jacket
One of my favorite looks to date is this mixed print look! I even have an entire post dedicated to this look called How to Mix Prints Like a Pro. This striped tee is JUST $8 at Target which I could not believe! The best part is that it’s still in stock. Sadly my skirt isn’t in stock still, but I found one that was super similar on Boohoo.
This look is transitional because of the short sleeve tee and sandals! It can be transitioned into fall easily because of the denim jacket. You can throw it on over any look when you’re inside and it’s chilly from the A/C! I found it at Forever 21 for under $35 which was a STEAL to me because it’s somehow super comfy.
My accessories are also a way that makes this look transitional! This boater hat is one that I found on Amazon and looks great with this outfit. I also have been a massive fan of this woven tote bag that is also an Amazon find! You can shop the hat (here) and the bag (here).
7. Beige Knit Sweater + Denim Mini Skirt
You caught me, I added another look from my 90’s Nostalgia with H&M collab! This outfit is one that’s great for this time of the year because it balances the long and short leg/sleeve. This sweater is only $9.99 from H&M and couldn’t be more cozy! I love that it’s just a subtle shade of beige so it can work after Labor Day too.
This denim skirt is honestly just a closet staple! I personally love button-up skirts for all seasons of the year. In the spring/summer you can wear them with a crop top or tee. In the fall/winter you can wear them with sweaters and/or over the knee boots! It’s one of the most versatile pieces.
My accessories for this look are pretty plain, but I love them! My friend calls by tote bags my “mom bags” because they’re massive. It also wouldn’t be weird for you to find snacks throughout it either! These platform sneakers are also to die for and give me all the 90’s vibes you could want.
8. Plain White Tee + Maroon Corduroy Wide Leg Pants
This is one of my favorite casual fall outfits for a few reasons. First, every item in this is one that I will wear through every season because they just work with everything! Second, I am mildly to fully obsessed with wide leg pants this fall too. I literally ordered two pairs from Madewell WHILE TYPING THIS POST. This cute pair is from Lulus though.
People asked me where I got my t-shirt from when I posted this on IG because they thought it came this way! It’s actually just an $8 plain white tee from Target (linked here). My denim jacket is the same on that you’ve seen throughout some of the other looks! I actually wore the outfit without this jacket the rest of the day making that the transitional aspect!
For my accessories, I love love loveeee pearl headbands! I used to think I couldn’t do headbands because my hair was curly. That thought process always seems to make me NOT wear super cute things that actually look nice on me. This headband is ONLY $8 on Amazon! Click (here) to shop it. I also found my Anthropologie dupe initial necklace on Amazon too and it’s JUST $7!!! Shop it (here).
9. Orange Ruffle Blouse + Printed Midi Skirt
Can we say COLOR?! When I asked what people were looking for in the fall, I got a ton of responses saying that y’all want color! With this look I was so excited that my orange top from Rent the Runway matched my printed skirt from ASOS. Sadly this gorgeous skirt is sold out, but I linked some others that are lovely too!
As you can tell I am always a fan of midi skirts. I also realized I have about 5 solid colored items in my closet last week so there are tons of fun prints in there as well. Ruffles and bold prints define my style and I’m okay with that! I think it’s a good idea to have your style defined by a few key items. This look is transitional mostly because of my shoes and some of the colors.
My shoes are backless mules from Target that are perforated! This makes them very breathable. It makes it trend more on the fall side because of all the colors in my clothes! The orange makes me think of pumpkins and the deep purple/red reminds me of the changing leaves. My cute little ring crossbody bag is from Amazon and it’s perfect for any budget at only $32! Shop my bag (here).
10. Graphic Tee + Leopard Print Midi Skirt
My last transitional look for summer to fall is this fabulous outfit! This trendy style of leopard print midi skirts is one I have been obsessing over for a few months now. I really love pairing graphic tees with outfits more and more every week! They just add a subtle, casual element to any look that I adore.
This skirt was gifted to me by Chicwish and it’s super flattering! I have been wanting a skirt like this for some time and I was happy to finally be able to style it. It has an elastic band and a zipper in the back so it’s very easy to slip into as well! The length also works well with various heights too.
My accessories for this look are relatively simple! I wanted to add a panama hat to this outfit because it added that fall element I was looking for. You’ll also see that I pulled back out my white platform sneakers for this look too! I haven’t always been a fan of the skirt and sneaker trend, but I really like how they looked with this one.
I hope you guys enjoyed this post! I had so much fun rounding up all these lovely looks that are great for the summer to fall transition. These are 10 looks that are awesome inspo for your own closet and are such cute autumn outfits.
