Cheers! Happy New Year ya’ll! I started out 2018 by making a personal list of resolutions/goals for the year and I figured I’d do another one. This time, I thought I would do it for you guys to see as well! I try to always make some resolutions every year because it’s a good way to see what you want to accomplish in your next year!
I first wanted to do a recap of my 2018 goals/resolutions! That way I could talk a little about how I was able to accomplish them (or maybe some areas where I fell a little short). I want to be super transparent with this post so you guys can get to know me a little bit more!

2018 Resolutions Recap:
I thought I would start by mentioning my biggest accomplishments! These were tasks I really wanted to commit to doing and resolutions I wanted to keep. I had high hopes for myself and I surprisingly kept true to most of my resolutions! (I had thirteen of them)
1. Read more books
My original goal was to read one book per month. However, by March I realized this was honestly a pipe dream because I was so busy! That being said, I did read more books than I had originally thought and they were some great ones! Check out some of my favorites below:
2. Think more positively
I have anxiety which fluctuates in intensity per day, per week, etc.! Sometimes that makes it hard for me to have a positive outlook on things. This year, especially in the second half of the year, I wanted to really try to focus on thinking positively! When I would get down, I would try to focus on more positive things. Sometimes this is especially hard for a blogger to do, but I did a pretty good job!
3. Get an internship that fulfills my school requirements and also makes me super excited for my future (hopefully paid??)
This is one that I not only succeeded at, but knocked out of the park! I applied internally for my internship with Ascena Retail Group this past summer and I couldn’t believe I got it. I knew even though it didn’t count for school credit it would be an amazing experience. I have a recap of my internship (here). I then applied this semester for an internship that WOULD count for school credit!
When looking, I knew I wanted to be within driving distance. I looked for companies in Florida, Georgia, North & South Carolina, and Tennessee! That led me to Carter’s and Disney. I ended up getting a Costuming Buyer Professional Internship for the spring with Disney! Directly after this position ends, I’ll start a full-time position with Carter’s as an E-Commerce Merchandise Coordinator!
4. Make my blog more successful, get sponsorships, get on LIKEtoKNOW.it, and get at least 3,000 followers on my blog IG
This was the craziest part of it all! I started this year keeping track of my milestones and I began 2018 with less than 1,000 followers. By March I hit 3,000 followers which was crazy to me and I just kept going from there!
On the same day of the women’s march, I was accepted to LIKEtoKNOW.it which was so exciting! A literal dream. I didn’t get my first sponsored post until August though! Because of the holidays, I got sooo many after that and a ton in just November alone!
5. Get to 500+ connections on LinkedIn
This was a professional goal for me. LinkedIn is how you can connect with other students all over the world, apply for jobs/internships, and follow companies! It’s been a game changer for me and it even shows you now when a recruiter has viewed your application. I have an entire post on how to get the most out of LinkedIn (here).
6. Be a better friend and girlfriend
Doing all these crazy things this year doesn’t leave much time for friends. That being said, I really tried to put an effort into seeing my friends from far away and remaining a good friend to my closer ones! Sometimes combined with anxiety this is pretty hard.
I added being a better girlfriend to this list because my boyfriend is SO amazing to me and treats me well even if I’m being irrational. He deserves the same treatment! I recently have tried even more to be a better girlfriend and I hope it shows.
2018 was such an amazing year, but I am excited for what 2019 has in store! I move to Orlando on January 4th and have my first day with Disney on January 9th. I am equal parts nervous and equal parts excited! Below I’m going to list out a couple of my 2019 goals/resolutions.
Since I have basically crushed my career goals, most of my 2019 goals are focused around blogging! I have worked very hard to improve everything for my blog this past year, but I still have so much to learn.
1. Get my domain authority up to 30
This is an SEO blog thing that I want to do for myself! I have been working super hard on improving my website and making it easier for readers like you! Domain Authority is just how you show up to search engines and my goal for this next year is to fine tune everything to make it better.
2. Start a blog newsletter
I have been wanting to start a newsletter for a while now! It’s something that I feel like will really connect me with more of you guys. It’ll also be a way for me to let you know of updates sooner and offer special treats for subscribers! Since I’m starting a full-time position, it’ll probably be a bit before I start one. I’m really excited to start this though!
3. Figure out how to “adult”
Now, I have been pretty self-sufficient since I started college. That being said, I will be a REAL adult starting in June and it’s a bit frightening! I have downloaded an Excel sheet to track expenses and income and I have a few apps that help me. These are just small ways I want to make sure I’m on top of everything and don’t make any mistakes!
4. Create 3 blog posts weekly (and stick to it!)
This past year I decided I would do three blog posts every week. I did a pretty good job of sticking with it, but with the holidays and the end of the semester it got hard! For 2019, I’m pretty happy though. I have a solid two months worth of posts planned out already! Get excited!
5. Host blogging events
I have done a lot of awesome collaborations in 2018! I’ve gotten to work with amazing brands who I use all the time. My goal for 2019 is to work with brands, but from an event standpoint! I’ll be in Orlando half of the year and Atlanta the other half. I think this will give me some awesome opportunities. I love people and interacting with others so I hope this one comes true!
And there yah have it! These were my 2019 goals and a recap of my 2018 goals/resolutions. I had some big dreams for this year, but as Joel Barker has said : “A vision is merely a dream without action“! Make sure to put action into your dreams! For me, I used my blog to show companies I can write, can keep a schedule, and that I can run a website!
