Jenna Rink from 13 Going on 30 Costume
If you’ve been searching for Halloween costume ideas for women, let’s play up the nostalgia factor with Jenna Rink’s dress from 13 Going on 30! This movie is a favorite of mine for soo many reasons, but I also just love me some Marc Ruffalo.
This dress went viral a few years back when it released on Cider, but I have found a few for you to shop below! If you’re looking for a fun, affordable option that is great for warmer climates, this is the one to choose. PLUS it’s just really cute.
Cher from Clueless Costume
Clueless was my favorite movie for roughly a decade of my life. The banter, Cher’s style, and Paul Rudd were what made it the best of the best to me. One of the most iconic looks, other than the yellow plaid outfit, was this one where Cher realizes that she loves Josh.
Dolls Kill has this entire look available, but I’m unable to link to them directly unfortunately. This would also be a pretty easy outfit to thrift and/or find secondhand if you’re trying to save some money on your Halloween costume this year!
Miss Frizzle from The Magic School Bus Costume
When thinking about what the most unique Halloween costumes for women were, I knew I needed to highlight Miss Frizzle from The Magic School Bus. I was OBSESSED with The Magic School Bus as a kid and am pretty sure I can still sing the entire theme song.
I styled this costume two years ago, and was so shocked at how easy it was to find this dress online! There are multiple colors of this dress, but I really liked the purple as it was closest to Miss Frizzle’s look. There’s also a Liz bag which I am SO SAD I couldn’t find when I first wore this costume, but that I linked below for y’all!
Fleur Delacour from Harry Potter Costume
I think we can all agree that J.K. Rowling is not the best person (unfortunately). That said, the magic and whimsy of the Harry Potter series is something that will always have a soft spot in my heart. This Fleur Delacour Halloween costume was one of the FIRST I ever styled and is what led me to share others every year!
Chicwish gifted me the top and skirt, but I found the hat and heels online. My wand in these photos is actually the stem of my deceased fiddle leaf fig that I covered in hot glue and then painted, but I have linked a few wands for you to shop from below!

Holly Golightly from Breakfast at Tiffany’s Costume
Breakfast at Tiffany’s is one of those movies that stands the test of time. It’s a classic that I feel like most people have seen and that everyone enjoys! My favorite outfit of the movie (other than the iconic black dress) is the one above where she is just wearing an oversized white button down and her sleep mask.
I truly love the fact that her ear plugs for this look have tassels on them because it makes it look like she’s wearing earrings to sleep. Like, how posh is that?! I’ve linked a couple different sets of the sleep mask and ear plugs below, as well as a few oversized blouse options as well.
Cruella Deville Costume
I’m sorry but Emma Stone’s Cruella was absolutely a classic and if you haven’t seen it, that is your homework for tonight. I’d watch anything Emma is in, but the way she played Cruella was next level. I’m a fashion girlie myself and that’s what made me love it even more!
There were so many looks from the movie that I loved, but her black leather outfit when recruiting Anita and Artie to help with her plan is just everything. I linked this entire costume, as well as another iconic look from the movie, below.
Medusa Costume
If you’re looking for fun Halloween costumes for women, look no further than Medusa. A woman with the power to turn men to stone? SIGN ME UP. I styled this costume a few years ago in partnership with Target; they were highlighting fall shades of makeup and the green mascara and nail polish could not have worked better for this look.
When I styled this, I ended up purchasing the wider Medusa headpiece from Amazon and then spray painted it a brighter gold. I wanted all of the gold items in this look to match, so that ended up being the perfect solution! That said, I included a few other headpiece options below as well.
Wanda Maximoff Scarlett Witch Costume
I am a Marvel fan through and through. At the beginning of the pandemic, I watched the entire MCU series in release order, and then went back and watched it in chronological order too. One of my favorite characters is Wanda Maximoff/The Scarlett Witch!
Wandavision had me impatiently waiting for the weekly episode releases more than any other show I’ve ever watched. Not only that, but the TikTok theories after every episode made it even more fun! I added a few variations of her costumes below to shop, so if you like her original outfit from the comic, that’s there as well!
DIY Disco Ball Costume
If you want homemade Halloween costume ideas for women, look no further. I found this tutorial on Studio DIY a while ago, but finally decided it was time to create it myself! My biggest recommendation is to NOT wait until the last minute because the initial shape of the disco ball made from papier-mâché takes a few days to dry.
I honestly had so much fun creating this costume (even though my apartment smelled like flour for a week) and the end result was everything I could’ve wanted. I used hot glue for the metallic strips and that ended up being the perfect adhesive solution! Just wear gloves to prevent yourself from getting burned.
DIY Cotton Candy Costume
On my search for fun, DIY Halloween costumes for women last year, I came across the idea of making a cotton candy costume! I am a gal who LOVES sugar and cotton candy is one of those sweet treats I can never pass up.
This costume idea would definitely be best for someone living in a cooler climate, because wearing this in Texas almost gave me heatstroke. Regardless, this DIY costume was pretty quick and easy to make and I was able to complete it in just a few hours!

Traffic Light Costume
“I ask the traffic lights if it’ll be alright they say ‘I don’t know.'”
I always try to come up with creative Halloween costumes every year and this one was no exception! One of my favorite Taylor Swift songs is “Death By a Thousand Cuts” and the lyrics “I ask the traffic lights if it’ll be alright they say ‘I don’t know.'” are honestly iconic.
When I saw that Target had this traffic light costume last year, I had never added something to my cart faster. Not only was it perfect to style for this lyric idea, but the different colors also LIGHT UP like a real traffic light!
Taylor Swift’s Anti-Hero Ghost Costume
For the next iteration of unique Halloween ideas for women, I give you another Taylor Swift inspired costume. I actually planned this costume BEFORE the Anti-Hero music video came out, but once it dropped last fall I was ecstatic that I somehow had already made this costume unintentionally.
If you’re wanting to recreate this costume, I would suggest searching through Etsy, Facebook Marketplace, eBay, Depop, or local Antique Shops for vintage bed sheets! These are my go-to places for all things retro and stylish.
Greek Goddess Costume
My dedication to “the bit” truly knows no bounds. Did I visit the Temple of Athena last year in Greece? Yes. Did I also bring a Greek Goddess costume to photograph here JUST for my Halloween costume series? Also yes.
I did get yelled at for wearing the sash because apparently that is against the rules but everything else was fine LOL. Anyways, this costume was absolutely stunning and I really love how gorgeous of an idea this is!
I hope you enjoyed this post of 14+ Unique Halloween Costume Ideas for Women and that one of them inspired you for this year! If you end up going with any of the costumes in the post above, I’d love for you to tag me on Instagram, @sequinsandsales, so I can see how YOU styled it! Happy Halloween!
