Hello friends! Back with another travel installment here on Sequins & Sales. This weekend I traveled to Memphis for a PR trip with We Are Memphis! Memphis is always a place I’ve wanted to travel to, so when they reached out I immediately said yes! This post will share some of the fun places I went to this weekend and recap the great food, drinks, and people as well. Keep reading for The Ultimate Weekend in Memphis Itinerary!
Friday:
To start off my weekend in Memphis itinerary, I had to share what we did on Friday! This is the day I flew in for the weekend and we got it started with drinks and then dinner. It was so nice getting to meet so many other wonderful influencers/bloggers from around the South!
Cocktails – Beck & Call:
Beck & Call had the most GORG rooftop bar area and it sits atop The Hyatt Centric which is where I ended up staying for the weekend! It was truly a can’t miss cocktail area and you have to make it a stop on your trip. I got a Cosmo (which is my go-to) and it was DELISH. We also went later in the evening and they had a DJ up there as well! It gets pretty crowded on the rooftop after 9pm, but it’s a great time regardless.

Dinner – Itta Bena:
Dinner on our first night of the trip was at Itta Bena! They had some of the BEST apps I’ve had and all of them are family style. We had the Crab Stuffed Avocados (SO GOOD – probably my favorite), Brisket Sliders, and Abita BBQ Shrimp! I am also a massive lover of shrimp and grits, so that is what I settled on for my entrée. The cocktails are also to die for when you go, ask for the “sweetest one on the menu” like I did. You will not be disappointed!

Saturday:
Breakfast –
I ended up just grabbing breakfast from the hotel on Saturday morning, but a place I wanted to try so badly was Otherlands Coffee! They have such a fun, eclectic vibe. The shop offers food, gifts, and most importantly, COFFEE! I wanted to try the Spicy Cheesy Grits (I mean COME ON, YUM) and the “slow coffee” (my stomach can’t handle a lot of acid, so I thought this would be so fun to check out)!

Excursion – Anti-Gentrification Cxffee Club:
This was probably my favorite part of the entire trip. We had the privilege of meeting the Cxffee Black team and also got to try some of AMAZING coffee too! I ended up getting the brown sugar latte, and as a coffee enthusiast, it was amazing learning more about coffee production and roasting. The shop offers free coffee to the community, supports and coaches local Black baristas, and even offers internships too! The best part? They ONLY use oatmilk. As a lactose intolerant hottie, this made my entire life.
You can buy their coffee online AND they sell affordable merch (I got the tee below and it was only $25. I also grabbed a “Make Cxffee Black Again” sticker and I cannot wait to put it on my car). When you come here you aren’t JUST getting a coffee; you get an educational experience that fosters a sense of community. I had no idea that coffee originated in Ethiopia and then was stolen by the Dutch, but after leaving the shop I had my eyes opened to the history of coffee. I truly cannot wait to return!

Lunch – Grey’s Cheese:
For lunch on Day 2 of our 3 days in Memphis, we went to Grey’s Fine Cheeses! This was SUCH an amazing experience (I am obsessed with cheese, like obsessed). We got to meet local cheesemongers Kurt + Jackie and also taste some of their amazing food. In the pic below, you’ll see their CAVIAR HOTDOG. Yes, you heard that correctly. I got their caviar nachos as well, and I must say, they were both fabulous. We also had some of the best charcuterie of our lives! If you are a cheese and/or wine fan, you’ve got to try Grey’s Cheeses.

Excursion – Crosstown Concourse:
If any of you have been to Ponce City Market in Atlanta, you will LOVE Crosstown Concourse! It is is Memphis’ new “vertical village” and has so much to offer! You have to check out Mimi’s Flower Shop, Mempops, and all of the art on the second floor. The coolest part of Crosstown Concourse to me is that they let local entrepreneurs open up spaces here! You’ll find everything from a pharmacy to a pizza shop. We also hung out at Art Bar before dinner and had some delish cocktails! I got the Bee a Hundinger and it was so yummy – plus all the glasses are vintage and thrifted! It’s an antique-lovers paradise with a velvet couch that has painted dogs portraits above it. My heart was so happy here!

Dinner – The Beauty Shop:
The Beauty Shop Restaurant is a CLASSIC in Memphis! This is where Priscilla Presley used to get her hair done, and it’s now a restaurant! We had dinner here on Saturday and my goodness was it delicious. For appetizers, we got a few to split. The Monkey Bread, Brussels Sprouts, Watermelon & Wings, and the Tempura Shrimp were ALL amazing and I ended up almost too full to enjoy my entrée. I STILL ATE IT THOUGH! I ended up ordering the New Bedford Scallops, Gulf Shrimp, and Thai Pork Dumpling meal and it is a must-try for sure.

Excursion – Panta:
The best way to describe Panta is that it was a MOMENT. During our trip we met David (in the photo below – IG LINK HERE) who is the designer behind Panta’s gorgeous layout and truly the nicest human I’ve ever met. As a fellow color enthusiast, I would’ve stayed here overnight if I could. A few of the people I was with ordered the strawberry mousse, and someone also tried the crème brulee! Both were to die for. They also had great cocktails that were as pretty as they are tasty!

Sunday:
Brunch – Bishop @ Central Station Hotel:
To finish out our weekend in Memphis, we had brunch at Bishop which is a restaurant connected to Central Station Hotel! I truly enjoyed this restaurant. The atmosphere, food, and coffee was all on point! We got a gorgeous private room and apps to share among us again. The appetizers we tried were the Cinnamon Roll (insanely good) and Beignets (to die for). You HAVE to get the beignets if you go! For my meal I tried the omelet (with bacon hehe) and it came with a salad! I loved how light it was which didn’t make me feel overfull. For anyone else that has to have decaf coffee or lactose free milk, they offer decaf lattes AND oatmilk so I was in heaven.

Excursion – Shopping on South Main
They also have quite a few murals in this area (pics to come!) so if you’re looking for an Instagram moment, this is for you! This is also the street where the Arcade Restaurant (that Elvis went to) is on. Just walking around, taking pictures, and getting food on this little street is a great way to spend half of a day in Memphis! The shops I loved were Paper & Clay (adorable nick knacks, pots for plants, cards, tea, art prints, and so much more), Primas Bakery + Boutique (macarons, sweets, and cute things to buy!), and Stock & Belle (this reminded me of Citizen Supply at Ponce in Atlanta).

I hope you enjoyed this Ultimate Weekend in Memphis Itinerary! I didn’t even touch the surface of what Memphis had to offer and I truly want to go back and do more of the touristy things we didn’t have time for. I also just have to mention – literally every server we had was extremely welcoming, accommodating, and kind. I would visit Memphis again JUST for the hospitality! If you end up checking out the places in this post, OR have anything to add, be sure to leave a comment (and/or tag me on IG at @sequinsandsales).
P.S. A HUGE Shoutout to Brittney Adu for hosting this incredible weekend and Kim Thomas for shooting for us the entire trip! You’ve GOT to book her if you’re visiting Memphis.
